I Found A Time Machine And I Went Back To the Year 1969! ...Not really, but a quick visit to Hampton, South Carolina surely made it feel that way as I was pleased to run across this 'one of a kind' consist of 2 Ex. Norfolk & Western GP9s and 2 Ex. Chessie System/C&O GP9s together sitting at the Hampton & Branchville Interchange with CSX. The H&B shortline is a very unique, but profitable operation that host only one commodity, which are unit coal trains delivered by CSX to this Interchange at Hampton and taken 40 miles up to Canadys by the H&B. The power may not be cosmetically up to par, but the 120lbs rail, ties, and ballast sure are! This operation is definitely at the top of my list to capture in action as the sounds and sights of these 4 relics pulling a loaded unit coal train would be simply amazing! Interesting Fact: The building to the RIGHT of the photo with the 'Hampton' station sign on it as well as the other building in the BACKGROUND once housed steam locomotives at one point in time! (Per info from a friend of mine)
