I've lived in Issaquah for more than half a decade and always assumed the small piece of ex-NP track running diagonally through downtown was dormant. Grand plans to reactivate the trolley line, last operated in 2001, have been widely discussed but never come to fruition. Given this history of inactivity, imagine my surprise when driving up Front Street this weekend and coming face-to-face with a tamper parked by the side of the road -- in the words of Dr. Frankenstein, "it's alive!" It turns out that the City Council recently let a contract to Coast Rail to perform track rehabilitation work in preparation for the long-delayed resumption of the tourist operation, which will hopefully be running on about 1/2-mile of track by this summer.
Photo albums dedicated to the Men, and Women that keep the Railroad running around the clock 365 days a year. From Dispatcher to Track Gangs, these are the people that make the railroad moves!
A tribute of appreciation to the workers who maintain the track, keeping our railways in shape regardless of weather and danger, and keeping them running effeciently.
