Remarks & Notes
It's train time in Savannah, Georgia. On a sunny day in March, 1922, The Florida Cuba Special has just arrived with engineer J. A. Preacher at the throttle of Seaboard Air Line 4-6-2 827. After the considerable head end business is taken care of and all the passengers are aboard, two short blasts of the whistle will signal she's on the move again as she heads south to Jacksonville, Florida and points south. Seaboard 4-6-2 827 was one of thirty five P-2 Pacifics built by several builders. They had 69" drivers, 22 x 28 inch cylinders, boiler pressure of 185 lbs and were capable of 30,885 lbs of tractive effort.
