Even though RF&P had a good stable of motive power, occasionally they would come up short. Such was the case on the morning of July 21, 1982 when a GP35 or GP40 wasn't available for the Acca Local. Three of the five SW1200s assigned to Acca Yard were equipped with ATC, dual controls and Flexicoil trucks for use in road service. They were seldom used on the road and when they were, they were almost always buried in a consist of road power. The train dispatcher worked out a deal with the yardmaster for two yard engines for the Acca Local. For two yard engines at 7:00 AM, I will gladly pay you a GP35 at 10:00 AM.
