Remarks & Notes |
CP train 923 with 4708 and 4219 pass through a cut west of Zorra. The big M's were nearing the end of their career on CP. They were retired by the end of the year. Replaced with leased EMD's the big M's just didn't go quietly as a traffic surge required about half of them to be placed back in service by the spring of 94. Most were then retired as they suffered major failures and the final ones were retired in 1995. 4708 was not one of the lucky ones to get called back to service as it failed on its final trip in Dec. 1993 and the engine block sustained freeze damage somewhere between Schreiber and Chapleau. |
