Remarks & Notes
Be Wise, Beware & Be Sure . . . showing signs of 33 years of hard labor, United States Steel 17, a GE 80 ton switcher, pauses at the Pipe Mill at Geneva Works. USS 17 was built new for Geneva in January 1944 and was out of service by September 1989. Geneva's Pipe Mill was demolished when the steel mill shut down in 2001, with the land redeveloped into a big United Parcel Service hub.
