| A small group of ex N&W SD35's that had been traded to EMD on new power was sent to the Soo Line's Shoreham Shop to be put back into running condition for lease service. The Soo used these units quite often along with the WC. In this case the WC had leased a hand full of them to get through the ore season of 1995. They actually performed at a fairly good level and most crews in Upper Michigan didn't grumble to much about them, even with the hi-nose. Here is EMD 1565 getting ready to depart Gladstone with ATSF 5400, 5396 and train 12. This job tended to be a late evening departure and would normally arrive at Shops Yard in N. Fond du Lac fairly early the following morning. |
