While cows graze along the foothills of 11,749 ft. Mount Timpanogos, a Union Pacific Las Vegas to Salt Lake City officer's special climbs the old Provo Subdivision grade approaching the summit at Point of the Mountain. This secondary mainline saw it's last through freight in 1985 and the line has been completely out of service between Draper and Cutler (Lehi) since 1993 (with the exception of infrequent intermodal well car storage). Today, lots of sage brush has grown up between the rails with rampant housing developments sprouting up along the sand hills in the background.
