Cloudy day, common power -- once upon a time, at least. Good luck finding an SD40-2/GP50 combo along BNSF's mainlines today. On a rainy autumn morning in 2007, two Burlington Northern veterans drag a short train of side-dump cars filled with rip-rap past the old GN depot in Skykomish. Today, this scene is much different; in the wake of BNSF's massive environmental cleanup of the town, the depot has been moved a couple hundred yards east and the space along the Scenic Sub has been turned into an attractive linear park.
