Remarks & Notes |
The South Eastern Trains Hitachi 140mph class 395 EMUs have always been known as 'Javelins' as they were destined to provide a high speed service from London St.Pancras to Stratford for the Olympic Park. Now the 'Javelin' name has been officially sanctioned and has been applied to the cabsides of all 29 units. Some have also been named after outstanding British athletes of the recent past but this one awaits a name from a gold medalist at the current Olympic Games. Here the 15.44 Dover to St.Pancras races north from Sandway Tunnel, some 74 Kms from its destination. Now the games have started 12 car rakes of 'Javelins' are providing a service of 8 trains per hour between St.Pancras and Stratford, the journey taking just 6 minutes.. |
