Remarks & Notes |
Just occasionally luck is on your side and a window of blue sky appears and an unexpected type of train comes along at the right time. In this case the 15.46 Paris Nord to Boulogne, usually formed of two PSE TGV sets but on this particular Sunday a North of London Eurostar set on hire to SNCF was used. Here the train is seen leaving the LGV line to the Channel Tunnel and approaching Calais Frethun station where it will reverse direction for the final part of its journey to Boulogne. The North of London Eurostar sets have 14 trailer cars as opposed to the 18 of the Three Capitals sets used between London, Paris and Brussels and were built to provide services to Paris from Manchester via Birmingham and Edinburgh via York - all abandoned before the start. For a time a couple of sets were used between London and Leeds/York but all except one half set (373 308) have been on hire to SNCF since 2006 and now see little use. |
