Remarks & Notes
Big West Texas Fork in the Road --- Sierra Blanca, where the TandP originally gained trackage rights on to El Paso over the SP. Westbound Amtrak Trn. 1 Sunset Limited with GE units 46 and 842 zip over the 3-motor high speed switch -- two motors for the long points and one motor for the movable frog. In an SP timetable, passenger trains were authorized 75 mph over this switch, freight at 70. The fork is 92 miles east of El Paso.
