After recieving some required maintenance/cleaning work at North Bay's Diesel Shop, SD75I's 2102 and 2105 catch some golden evening light as they work the turntable, arranging the consist before heading out on a 113 for points north later in the evening. While visiting North Bay it wasn't difficult to find 'Ontario Northland Not For Sale' signs and a sense of pride and connectivity towards the railroad, however, despite the efforts of many northerners the Liberal government of Ontario pulled the plug on Northlander train service a couple months after this photo was taken. The last Northlander train ran on September 28th, ending 35 years of service and beginning the slow divestiture of the ONR, putting an uncertain future for the iconic shortline.
