Coal trains have returned to an area where we're just used to see sand freights. The photo is taken in Sotoscueva, a place that is magical for me because, sometimes, unexpected things happen. Today the morning was dark and rainy, but the sun did make its only appearance of the day coinciding with the arrival of this beautiful freight. In a few days, Renfe will manage this wonderful line and maybe things stop being so idyllic. Let us hope that the magic of Sotoscueva remain intact and continue enjoying rail fans for many years in this sanctuary of authentic railroad.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
