When a freight car is built to haul heavier than normal loads such as this tank car carrying 297000 lbs of Vinyl acetate, a normal two axle truck will not do. Thus the distinctive three axle truck created by Buckeye Steel Castings is the right tool for the job as it makes easy work of supporting such heavy loads. Today the company is known as Columbus Castings and still makes trucks for heavy haul applications as well as couplers and knuckles.
