Remarks & Notes |
On a spectacular February afternoon in 1988, Union Pacific's PVSC departs Provo with a flat car to set out on the Hardy Beet Spur in Lindon. UP 91 is an EMD GP40X from a small fleet of six units UP purchased between Dec. 1977 and Mar. 1978 (as the UP 9000-9005). All were equipped with EMD High Adhesion trucks which apparently were thought to be less than favorable by crews due to their rough ride. Many found service on UP passenger specials throughout their short 23 year service life. All were retired and off the active roster by 2001. This location today is UTA's new FrontRunner commuter rail station. |
