Keystone: The end of the line. Nevada Northern Locomotive #40 eases her "Steptoe Flyer" consist on to the wye at Keystone Nevada, during the 2012 Winter Photo Shoot. For all intents and purposes, this is the current end of the "Ore Line" from Ely to Mines District. Historically, the tracks extended to mine shafts another mile or two west of here, but over the years since the original railroad ceased operations, the real end of track is now a couple of hundred yards in front of 40's pilot. This is the termination point for the Nevada Northern Railway Museum's regular passenger excursions. Typically, those runs are made with Locomotive #93 and some steel passenger coaches. The 93 worked the mines and would have been seen here regularly back in the day. The 40 on the other hand, would rarely have been assigned to this line. She and her 1800s-vintage Railway Post Office and coach were regulars in passenger service on the main line, which extended north from Ely to Cobre.
