Remarks & Notes |
Former Nord Railway four-cylinder compound Pacific No 231E22 enters Calais Ville station with the 18.42 Genoa to Calais Maritime, the 'Italia Express', a much missed train. The Nord was so pleased with the 20 Chapelon rebuilds of the Paris Orleans Pacifics that they ordered another 28 built new in 1936-37 despite having the ecellent Collins 'Super Pacifics' of their own. This engine, originally Nord No 3.1192 was second in the new series and is now preserved in its original Nord chocolate livery at the French National Railway Museum at Mulhouse. |
