Remarks & Notes |
This car is the "Hickory Creek" and it was built by Pullman-Standard in 1948 for the New York Central Railroad Company as a sleeper-observation car. Its served on the 20th Century until that train came off in 1967. Ironically, it is spotted just one track over from Track 34 at Grand Central Terminal, the one she departed from with the 20th Century for 19 years. This shot was taken during Metro North Railroads "VIP Sneak Preview For Employee's Only" the day before the official Grand Centennial Parade Of Trains during National Train Day 2013 at GCT. The car is currently owned by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey and is available for charter. |
