Santa Fe all the way! Looking all the world like a scene outside a Kansas grain elevator in the Mid-1990's, we are actually a few hundred miles from the Sunflower State. This is the Industrial Park in Guilderland, NY and seen here idling with a cut of cars is SMS Rail's B23-7 #4212. In early 2011, SMS started leasing two of these ex-BNSF/ATSF B23-7's after they were used for a time on, perhaps even more oddly, the Vermont Railway System. The two units were bought by SMS from NREX later that year, and for many months ran together on SMS's scenic lines in Upstate, NY. It is now June 2013, and only the #4212 remains in NY state, It's sister having recently been transferred to the Southern portion of SMS's Network in PA and NJ. Photo Taken With Permission
