Remarks & Notes |
North Fork Bridge. It truly is amazing to witness an eastbound train exit Tunnel 8 on the UP Canyon Subdivision and soar high above the Feather River as it crosses the North Fork Bridge. The North Fork Bridge is the largest reinforced concrete railroad bridge in the world and its rainbow arches give it an iconic look. If you are brave enough to drive the dirt roads down to the bridge, you will see some spectacular examples of the railroad engineering needed to operate a rail line through the Feather River Canyon. In this shot, Union Pacific 7394 leads a long double stack train across the North Fork Bridge as it begins its ascent of the Feather River Canyon. |
