The day following a severe storm a large maple tree was discovered laying across the tracks. A work team set out to clear the line before the first run of the day, but was unable to remove more of the trunk on the one side of the tracks as they would have needed to jack it up to cut it due to the way it was arching over the ditch. The coaches would have cleared, but Number 2's rear pilot would not so they cut a notch from the top to allow us to pass. We did a test run light power which determined the were no remaining issues, then carried on business as usual. A few days later, before they went out with jacks and a bigger chainsaw, I took this shot of the Portage Flyer navigating by the scene on a return run from Fairy Lake.
