Da 1429 hauls a Thomas Weekend train near Glenbrook. This was one of the first batch of this type, built by General Motors, La Grange, Illinois in 1956. Later batches were built in by Clyde in NSW and GM in Canada. Most the class were rebuilt as DC, of which most remain in service.
Railway Enthusiasts Society has operated rail excursions around NZ since 1958, some steam hauled using rolling stock from Glenbrook Vintage Railway which it established in 1970's near Auckland. See www.railfan.org.nz
