J1a #6403 poses for a picture at Columbus. It was likely part of the PRR motive power force defending the turf on the Sandusky coal trains v. the 11 Santa Fe 2-10-4's brought in to augment the fleet in summer '56 lake season. Two of those Santa Fe engines can be seen lurking in the stalls behind. The next summer Pennsy moved in 6 reinforcement J1a's, otherwise surplus in parts east, to make one last stand on the coal runs. A good read on that summer of '56 steam in Columbus is a ColumbusRailroads.com.
