Two officials inspect the damage to the cab of Chicago and North Western EMD SD38-2 No. 6651. A switching mishap where two trains tried to occupy a diamond at the same time is being cleaned up at C&NW’s Butler Yard at Butler, Wisconsin, in September 1983. The locomotive rolled over on its side in the accident near the Hampton Avenue overpass, and has now been righted. Two sideboom dozers located on both ends of the locomotive will now be used to lift and crawl the engine back onto the rails. I believe that this locomotive was unoccupied and no one was hurt in the accident, which is a good thing since it destroyed much of the engineer’s side of the cab.
