Remarks & Notes |
Following a heavy shower Adams 0-4-4T O2 tank 'Calbourne' departs from Havenstreet with a service to Wooton. The O2 were prevalent on the Isle of Wight right up to the end of steam in 1966. Calbourne along with W31 'Chale' were retained for a few more months to work electrification trains for the much truncated 'Island Line' which was to be retained following closure of most of the system.
Calbourne was the sole member of the class to be saved for preservation, moving ultimately to its home at Havenstreet where it works today on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. |
