Big changes recently took place on Norfolk Southern’s Cincinnati District between Cincinnati and Peebles, OH. NS ran its final train east of Clare, MP 9 / Mariemont on April 25, 2014. Willamsburg, OH (MP 32.83) to Peebles is now out of service and a new operator, Cincinnati East Terminal Railway (CCET), has leased the line between Clare and Williamsburg. Huhtamaki is the only business currently served by CCET but the railroad has plans of bringing on additional customers soon.
Power for CCET will include three former Alaska GP49s but those have not yet arrived. In the interim, they are leasing RJCC 3863, seen here crossing over Tealtown Road near Batavia, OH.
