The Yakima River Canyon, a gorgeous area to go rafting, fishing, camping and even watch a few trains! The canyon runs about 24 miles in length from Thrall, south of Ellensburg, to Pomona, north of Yakima. The railroad and old highway abut the river along opposing sides for most of the length of the twisting canyon. BNSF runs traffic mostly eastbound and empty over the Stampede and Yakima Valley Subs from Auburn to Pasco.
