A sleepy little community in the southern portion of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Trout Lake does not seem a strong place to observe rail activity, but, even into 1984, the Soo Line was still running 4 trains a day through the town. Even today, traffic is still not bad, and CN 6 axle units are common in the area. Here, Soo Line 901 rolls west past the Trout Lake depot with some hoppers and other mixed freight. 35mm slide from my collection, photo by Bill Clynes.
