An interesting lashup of classic EMDs await a call to serve in UP's small yard in Montpelier, Idaho. The trio includes UP GP20 No. 498 (blt. Aug. 1960), UP SD24B No. 407B (blt. July 1959) and UP GP9 No. 266 (blt. Aug. 1954). All three were retired from the active roster in just over five years. The GP20 went on to serve on Kyle Railways while the other two were scrapped. Relics of the old Montpelier roundhouse are in the middle background while at left, the turntable survived into the 1970s.
