Remarks & Notes |
South central Kentucky and North central Tennessee was at one time home to several small coal mines, but for decades these mines have been unused. However there are a few signs of the past coal operations in this region if you look for it, as witnessed by this ancient wood tipple. You can almost imagine the day when the Southbound Royal Palm behind magnificent green and gold Ps-4s would pass strings of coal hoppers. This particular day, empty tie gons and an excursion led by 630 help make that vision of the past slightly easier to envision. |
