With the Flagg Coal 75 pulling as much as she can, this train is in draft mode meaning there is no slack between the cars. With complete tension being applied between the couplers one can see the space that exists between them at this stage and get a better understanding of how these gaps contribute to slack run-in between cars when abrupt decelerations occur.
