Remarks & Notes |
Reading engine #2102 is lettered for the Allegheny Railroad and will run doubleheaded to Altoona and back the next day with Cuyahoga Valley Ex GTW 4070. The pair are admired as they sit in front of Pitt Tower catching some late afternoon glint. It is one of a pair of steam excursions scheduled to take place on what is now Conrail property, a year after their coming into corporate existence. Mechanical issues that cropped up during the trip are the rumored reason for CR's official "no steam" stance that evolved later. |
