| While living in Colorado I would often make trips to Utah to catch the final Grande units in action. On one such trip I had a buddy fly in to Salt Lake City and we ventured around Soldier Summit etc. On the day he was to fly home we had a cutoff time for departing Helper in order to make his flight. Pre-determined time came and we set out for SLC, well imagine our surprise we ran into to the circus train led by DRGW 5342. Of course we turned around followed to Helper and then made a beeline for SLC. Fortunately this was in the 90s long before all the turmoil associated with flying these days and my friend made his plane with 5 minutes to spare. That just couldn't happen these days. |
