Remarks & Notes |
Ready for the big move. NW Y6a #2156 rests out its final week at the Museum of Transportation on a beautiful fall morning. Sometime very soon, it will depart the museum for a long trip to the Virginia Museum of Transportation where it will be on display as part of a 5 year loan agreement between the two museums. Since it is the lone survivor of N&W's large Y6 fleet, and because all steam locomotives of greater tractive force have been scrapped, NW 2156 holds a very unique distinction; is it thought to currently be the steam locomotive with the highest tractive effort in existence. |
