Remarks & Notes |
One of the diesel-electric Blue Pullman sets normally used on the Midland Pullman service from St.Pancras to Manchester found unusual employment forming the 05.45 Preston to Wembley Hill FA Cup Final special. It is coming round the then rarely used wartime spur from Claydon LNE Junction on the Bletchley-Oxford line to join the Great Central main line at Calvert.
Two six-car sets were built for the 'Midland Pullman' service on the London Midland Region and three eight-car sets for the 'Birmingham Pullman' and 'South Wales Pullman' services on the Western Region, all built by Metropolitan-Cammell in 1959-60. All were withdrawn from service in May 1973 and all were broken-up in 19074-76. |
