Remarks & Notes
Wood products - mostly logs and chips - kept the segment of the ex-CofG Roanoke branch between Opelika and Lafayette open until the late 1990s, when it was spun-off to the Pine Belt Southern. That traffic is mostly gone from the rails in the deep south now, and the Pine Belt folded after just a few years. This train is pulling on to the CSX for a two-mile hop to downtown Opelika and the NS main.
