Remarks & Notes |
Three-cylinder 2-10-0 No 44 1226 is working hard over Altenbeken viaduct on the climb from Paderborn with a northbound freight train that includes some military hardware. This viaduct, with its 24 arches, was opened in 1853 and is 482 metres (1,581ft) long. It was badly damaged twice by allied bombing in the second World War, once in November 1944 and again in February 1945. It took until 1950 to complete final repairs. |
