As new Siemens ACS-64 locomotives arrive, older EMD/ASEA AEM-7 locomotives are being retired. Built in October 1980, Amtrak 907, poking out of the shops at Amtrak's Ivy City facility is still in service, but the end is certainly near. Amtrak's AEM-7s have racked up a lot of miles shuttling passengers between Washington DC and New York NY and Boston MA since the first of them arrived, and after over 34 years of service, they have been in service for a time period comparable to the storied PRR/PC/AMTK GG-1 locomotives! (Washington DC – January 22, 2015). Photographed on railroad property with permission and full PPE.
