Remarks & Notes
I had almost all but forgot about this photo, but I don't know how. This was one of my favorite photos from 2014, taken on my one day trip north on the CSX KD with a fellow photographer. Here we see a loaded CSX coal train behind a set of two GE locomotives making a run up the grade of Duff Mountain. The Morley helper, which happened to be CSXT 500, the "Spirit of Grafton" AC4400CW, is gliding downgrade at a steady 10 miles per hour. It will switch over to the main track, connect to the rear of the coal drag, and cut off at Kilsyth in motion. This scene is nothing like it was 30 years ago, but nonetheless, still a very neat move.
