Remarks & Notes
The Mallet 442-54 is leaving the Massawa port with a short freight train. Massawa was once the largest and safest port on the east coast of Africa but suffered terrible damage during the independence war with Ethiopia. Massawa used to be the headquarters of the Ethiopian navy. It was fought over by both sides during the struggle for Eritrean independence. To this day Massawa remains the largest natural deep-water port on the Red Sea.
