UP (Ex-MoPac) SD40-2s 4298, B4253, and a sister, hold the siding with the Austin Local. They are waiting for an extremely late UP Challenger 3985, which tender, that morning, had been filled with the wrong kind of fuel oil. While they drained and cleaned the tender, a truckload of proper fuel oil was purchased, jobbed, and driven down from Waco, while dozens upon dozens of us sat around waiting.
The crew from this train was losing hours, so swapped with a higher priority train preceding the 3985 Extra, and the new crew stuck around for the show.
