Celebrating passing the 5M page-view mark here at railpictures.net with these uploades, here's another in a series of photos taken of the Reading in 1960. Here what appear to be fans get their shots while crew brief each other at "Catty", as it was known to the locals. LV, RDG, CNJ, and LNE all served this crossroads just a few miles north of Allentown. The LV Black Diamond ran through here. In it's day Catasaugua was a railfan dream come true: trains, tower, depots, tunnels, a four-track mainline, cool signals, yards, even an interurban. Reading came by branch to serve cement industries here, and usually at night with Alco RS's. Thus seeing RDG modern diesel power here and getting it on film was a rarity.
