Remarks & Notes
This eccentric little vehicle is former Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board scrubber tram No.8. This 'scrubber' entered service in 1934, and was one of many such trams used on the Melbourne network to clean the rails. No.8 was withdrawn from service in the 90's, and donated to the Ballarat Tramway Museum in 1999. It has been repainted into its original M&MTB green and cream livery, and is used by the BTM for its original purpose of track cleaning, as well as making an interesting museum exhibit. You can view video footage of No.8 in action (both trackside and from the cab) by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGDWwG3sHcg
