A dirty Illinois Central SD70 leads the daily Flat Rock to Chicago manifest north on CN's Holly Subdivision through the quiet town of Gaines. Gaines was once home to a passing siding; however, the siding has since been removed. The signal to the rear of the BC Rail locomotive was once part of the southern control point for the passing siding. Today, these signals, now known simply as Gaines, are used as a controlled holding point for northbound trains.
