Remarks & Notes |
The only Re 4/4 II in green of the passenger division, # 11161, with the only loco hauled Eurocity on the Gotthard line, EC 158 Milan-Lucerne, on the 127 meter long and 53 meter high Chärstelenbach bridge in Amsteg on the Gotthard north ramp. The impressive bridge over the Chärstelen stream was built in 1882 as iron framework. An initial change occured when the track was widened to double track in 1893. When trains became heavier the bridge was reinforced by a so called "fish belly" around 1906. From 1970 to 1972 the iron framework was replaced by steel/concrete composite beams. |
