A pair of rebuilt SD40Ns and 5 dead, drained, and retired C40-8s curve towards the north as they approach Bunkum Road on Alton and Southern's main line. The 5 GEs, along with 45 addition units of their class, are bound for Wood River, IL, where they will be put up for auction in October. While the Dash 8s are most likely reaching the end of their lives, the decade older SD40Ns pulling them have been rebuilt and continue to faithfully serve their owner.
