The high hood Southern Railway SD40 and 3 other EMDs are absolutely screaming as they fight to get their heavy local freight up the constant 1% grade at Park, three miles railroad north of Toccoa. Upon arrival, the crew will tie their train down in the yard and taxi back home to Gainesville, less than an hour to the south. Although the entire signal replacement project is done on the Greenville District, note the still-standing Southern Railway Brosnan-era boxcar frame signal bridge, supposedly left in tact due to its remote location.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
