Remarks & Notes
NM25 leads Pichi Richi Railway's 'Afgan Express' out of Port Augusta, heading for Quorn. NM25 was built for the Commonwealth Railways in 1925 at the Thomson Foundry, Castlemaine, Victoria. It was used on the Central Australia Railway between Port Augusta and Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, over what is now generally referred to as the 'Old Ghan' route. The Pichi Richi Railway is the last operating section of the line, with the current 'Ghan' using a Standard Gauge alignment much further west.
