Rare mileage! Month-old ET44C4 3908 treads carefully through the BNSF Railway's Barstow Engine Facility on December 13th, 2015. At the first switch, the train will turn right and reverse direction on the yard's balloon track, taking the 2015 California Division Christmas Train back to Victorville to complete its round trip. All the kids on board are being entertained by elves, chipmunks, magicians, clowns and Santa and Mrs. Claus, and will not take note of this rare mileage nor all the interesting diesels to be found as the train passes through the heart of the diesel service area. But the railroad's mechanics take a short break to witness the train and wave to those kids looking out the windows - and the three railfans aboard who are wildly firing off images of diesels both mundane and unusual!
